really like the idea. It reminds me of that old cartoon gator from the strips. What was his name? I think it reads well and it has you written all over it.
That is very mezzy. I like the illustration alot, the placement of type will really decide the overall look of the poster now. Black Swamp at the top reads well down to Jazz Fest and then info at bottom. Playing with some cool fonts could really set it off. What kind of color palette are you thinking about going with?
