Are you sure swamps aren't sludgy? What if it was really dirty?

First idea, split up down the middle posters. My swamp would be totally sludgy ok.
Kind of a refined idea off of the first one, colors would be messy but more strategically placed

I think the foot in the sludge is a much cooler idea, i just think Lindsey needs to direct it better. And it doesn't necessarily need to read as a realistic swamp.

I think getting caught up in the swamp idea is the wrong direction. It's not as if the jazz fest takes place in the middle of the actual swamp, most likely. I don't mind the "step into sludge" idea, I just feel like it needs to portray the fest or atleast the target audience of the fest, which we actually did not discuss. Go with it. The other design lacks real interest. It looks like you knew you needed options but you are totally in love with the first idea and so you gave the second one enough treatment to have an option but not much more than that. Looking forward to the final.

I love your lack of knowledge of what a swamp is. very funny. After looking more at the first design, I really dislike the placement of the words. I think that will be your biggest hurdle. Think about the pattern of eye movement from top to bottom. Where do you want people to look? What are they seeing? Sort like taking a step back at work...look at the design as if you never saw it. Does it read well? DOES IT?

I actually thought about that, I don't know who I'm speaking to. How old are they? Obviously they like jazz, the direction I'm thinking is most likely the newest listeners to the jazz world, young music makers with one hand in the artsy crowd too. Late twenty something semi professionals.
